End user profiling

At the heart of our Assessment sits our engagement with the end user’s in your organisation. In this stage of the process we essentially have three key areas of focus:

  • Understand Requirements – more and more organisations that we engage with are looking to involve the end user community in defining the strategy by ensuring that their requirements are captured and fed into the process. In our experience this level of engagement serves two purposes:

        1. It helps to ensure that the needs of the business are reflected in the strategic direction decided upon

        2. It includes the end user in your journey and in our experience helps to gain their support and sponsorship

  • Understand IT Usage – from a more technical and scientific perspective we also look to monitor usage of IT services to understand areas such as how hardware is utilised, the levels of concurrent usage within an organisation, as well as the mobile and offline requirements of an organisation. This level of statistical data is used to create a technical profile of the end user community and is supported through the use of the same technology we deploy in the Application Discovery phase of the project.
  • Understand IT Interaction – the final area of interest for us is how end user’s physically interact with IT, or to put it another way their behaviour. This is based on understanding the physicality of their IT experience to establish if this will have an impact on the relevance and potential of future technology options. We capture this information through direct end user shadowing, which we look to deliver at a departmental or business unit level to provide us with broad coverage as it is completely impractical to attempt this close level of engagement with every single user in your organisation.

These three key areas allow us to ultimately create the end user profiles that exist within your business and crucially to establish where characteristics are shared. These patterns help us to establish what technology options are ultimately required, and if appropriate how these should be combined. In instances where a blended approach is most suitable end user profiling allows us to define the percentages of your organisation that are best suited to a particular option and in this sense outlines your strategy.
