Application Remediation

The Application Remediation function within Point to Point is the logical progression from our Application Compatibility Testing service discussed in our strategic work with our customers.

The Application Compatibility Testing service offered by Point to Point provides us with a great level of detailed information about the suitability of your application estate to the new delivery methods and host operating systems being considered. This remediation detail allows us to accurately assess the complexity associated with transitioning your application estate to the new approaches being considered. The level of information we gain in the analysis piece also allows us to shorten and simplify the remediation process, particularly as the solution we work with here can even go on to deliver automated remediation.

Application Virtualisation sits at the heart of our Remediation service and we often treat the virtualisation of application code as our starting point. As enthusiasts and believers in application virtualisation we promote this as our preferred direction for applications in our customers’ environments and our remediation skills are based on supporting this direction. At Point to Point we were one of the very first organisations to embrace application virtualisation and to carry out this conversion process with our customer’s application catalogues. This depth of experience has proved invaluable to us and our customers as this area of virtualisation has continued to gather pace and momentum.

Our belief in Application Virtualisation is based on the fact that this really can simplify the effort involved in delivering and maintaining applications in an organisation. That being said, we fully accept that it is not always possible to achieve virtualisation of a particular application. There are some applications that are not compatible with the underlying technology and there are others where virtualising does not make sense. In these cases the traditional and physical world is still extremely relevant.

On this basis, Point to Point’s Application Remediation function is not only based on virtualisation, but also includes the capability to package applications in the more traditional MSI format.
